Ryzen Threadripper 1950X vs EPYC 74F3 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the EPYC 74F3 is faster than the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has significantly more cores with 16 cores whereas the EPYC 74F3 has 9 cores. It also has more threads than the EPYC 74F3. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has a slightly higher clock speed than the EPYC 74F3. A Ryzen Threadripper 1950X CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 74F3 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has more L2 cache than the EPYC 74F3. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
