Ryzen Threadripper 1920X vs Xeon Gold 6226R benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X performs better than the Xeon Gold 6226R. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon Gold 6226R in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon Gold 6226R has slightly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X that has 12 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon Gold 6226R. Also, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon Gold 6226R outputs less heat than Ryzen Threadripper 1920X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
