Ryzen Threadripper 1920X vs Ryzen Threadripper 3960X comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X is faster than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has significantly more cores than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has 24 cores compared to 12 cores found in the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. It also has more threads than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Also, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen Threadripper 1920X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen Threadripper 3960X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. The Ryzen Threadripper 3960X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
