Ryzen Threadripper 1920X vs EPYC 74F3 comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the EPYC 74F3 performs better than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has slightly more cores with 12 cores compared to the EPYC 74F3 that has 9 cores. It also has more threads than the EPYC 74F3. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the EPYC 74F3. A Ryzen Threadripper 1920X CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 74F3 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the EPYC 74F3. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
