Ryzen Threadripper 1900X vs Xeon E5-2696 v3 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-2696 v3 is faster than the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. Despite this, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2696 v3 has significantly more cores with 18 cores whereas the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. The Xeon E5-2696 v3 outputs less heat than Ryzen Threadripper 1900X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
