Ryzen Threadripper 1900X vs Core i7-12800H specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X is faster than the Core i7-12800H. Despite this, the Core i7-12800H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-12800H has significantly more cores with 14 cores compared to the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-12800H. Despite this, the Core i7-12800H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-12800H outputs less heat than Ryzen Threadripper 1900X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i7-12800H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
