Ryzen Threadripper 1900X vs Core i5-1240P benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X performs better than the Core i5-1240P. Despite this, the Core i5-1240P has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1240P has significantly more cores than the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has 12 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1240P. The Core i5-1240P outputs less heat than Ryzen Threadripper 1900X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1240P has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X. Despite this, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-1240P.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 1900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
