Ryzen 9 9950X3D vs Ryzen 9 9900X3D benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D beats the Ryzen 9 9900X3D in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 9900X3D in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has slightly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Ryzen 9 9900X3D that has 12 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 9900X3D. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 9900X3D has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D outputs less heat than Ryzen 9 9950X3D thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 9900X3D. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
