Ryzen 9 7900 vs Core i5-14600K benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 7900 beats the Core i5-14600K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-14600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-14600K has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 9 7900. Indeed, the Core i5-14600K has 14 cores compared to 12 cores found in the Ryzen 9 7900. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 7900 has more threads than the Core i5-14600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 7900 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-14600K. Also, the Ryzen 9 7900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-14600K has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 7900. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 7900 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-14600K.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 7900 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
