Ryzen 9 6900HX vs Core i5-13500H comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 6900HX beats the Core i5-13500H in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-13500H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-13500H has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 9 6900HX. Indeed, the Core i5-13500H has 12 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Ryzen 9 6900HX. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 6900HX has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-13500H. Also, the Ryzen 9 6900HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-13500H has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 6900HX. The Core i5-13500H also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 6900HX has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
