Ryzen 9 5950X vs EPYC 7543P specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the EPYC 7543P is faster than the Ryzen 9 5950X. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 5950X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the EPYC 7543P has significantly more cores with 32 cores compared to the Ryzen 9 5950X that has 16 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 9 5950X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5950X has a slightly higher clock speed than the EPYC 7543P. Also, the Ryzen 9 5950X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 5950X CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 7543P CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the EPYC 7543P has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 5950X. The EPYC 7543P also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5950X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
