Ryzen 9 5950X vs Core i9-14900HX benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-14900HX performs better than the Ryzen 9 5950X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 5950X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-14900HX has significantly more cores with 24 cores compared to the Ryzen 9 5950X that has 16 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5950X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-14900HX. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i9-14900HX has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 5950X. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 5950X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i9-14900HX.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5950X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
