Ryzen 9 5900X vs Ryzen Threadripper 1920X comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 5900X performs better than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen Threadripper 1920X. Also, the Ryzen 9 5900X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 5900X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen Threadripper 1920X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 9 5900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
