Ryzen 9 5900X vs Ryzen 5 7600X benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 5900X performs better than the Ryzen 5 7600X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 7600X has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 5900X has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 7600X that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 7600X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 7600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 5900X. Also, the Ryzen 5 7600X has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Ryzen 9 5900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
