Ryzen 9 5900X vs Core i9-12900T specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 5900X is faster than the Core i9-12900T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i9-12900T in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i9-12900T has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 9 5900X. Indeed, the Core i9-12900T has 16 cores compared to 12 cores found in the Ryzen 9 5900X. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i9-12900T. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-12900T outputs less heat than Ryzen 9 5900X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-12900T. The Ryzen 9 5900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
