Ryzen 9 5900X vs Core i7-11700KF specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 5900X beats the Core i7-11700KF in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-11700KF in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 5900X has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i7-11700KF that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-11700KF. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-11700KF. Despite this, the Core i7-11700KF has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 5900X CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-11700KF CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 5900X has more L2 cache than the Core i7-11700KF. The Ryzen 9 5900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
