Ryzen 9 5900X vs Core i5-10600K comparison

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 5900X beats the Core i5-10600K in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-10600K in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 5900X has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i5-10600K that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-10600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-10600K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 5900X. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Ryzen 9 5900X CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-10600K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-10600K. The Ryzen 9 5900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
