Ryzen 9 5900HX vs Core i7-1260P specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-1260P is faster than the Ryzen 9 5900HX. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 5900HX in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-1260P has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 5900HX has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 9 5900HX has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1260P. Despite this, the Core i7-1260P has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1260P outputs less heat than Ryzen 9 5900HX thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Core i7-1260P also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 5900HX has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
