Ryzen 9 4900HS vs FX-8350 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 4900HS performs better than the FX-8350. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-8350 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 4900HS has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the FX-8350 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-8350. Our comparison shows that the FX-8350 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 4900HS. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 4900HS has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 4900HS CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8350 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8350 has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 4900HS. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900HS has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
