Ryzen 9 4900HS vs Core i7-9700 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 4900HS is faster than the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Ryzen 9 4900HS has more threads. Both the Ryzen 9 4900HS and Core i7-9700 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 4900HS CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-9700 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 9 4900HS has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-9700. Despite this, the Core i7-9700 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 4900HS.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900HS has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
