Ryzen 9 4900HS vs Core i5-11400 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 4900HS is faster than the Core i5-11400. Despite this, the Core i5-11400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 4900HS has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-11400 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11400. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-11400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 9 4900HS. Also, the Core i5-11400 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 4900HS CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-11400 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 4900HS has more L2 cache than the Core i5-11400. Despite this, the Core i5-11400 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 9 4900HS.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 4900HS has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
