Ryzen 9 3900X vs Ryzen 5 7600X specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 7600X is faster than the Ryzen 9 3900X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 3900X in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 3900X has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 7600X that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 7600X. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 7600X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 3900X. Also, the Ryzen 5 7600X has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 9 3900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 3900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
