Ryzen 9 3900X vs Core i9-12900T comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 9 3900X performs better than the Core i9-12900T. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-12900T has slightly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Ryzen 9 3900X that has 12 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 3900X has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-12900T. Despite this, the Core i9-12900T has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-12900T outputs less heat than Ryzen 9 3900X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 3900X has more L2 cache than the Core i9-12900T. The Ryzen 9 3900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 3900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
