Ryzen 9 3900X vs Core i7-13700K comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-13700K is faster than the Ryzen 9 3900X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 9 3900X in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i7-13700K has slightly more cores than the Ryzen 9 3900X. Indeed, the Core i7-13700K has 16 cores compared to 12 cores found in the Ryzen 9 3900X. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 9 3900X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-13700K. Despite this, the Core i7-13700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 9 3900X CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-13700K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-13700K has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 3900X. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 3900X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-13700K.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 3900X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
