Ryzen 7 5800X vs Ryzen Threadripper 1950X benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 5800X beats the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has significantly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800X. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X. A Ryzen 7 5800X CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen Threadripper 1950X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Threadripper 1950X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5800X. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
