Ryzen 7 5800U vs Core i9-10900 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i9-10900 beats the Ryzen 7 5800U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800U in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-10900 has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5800U that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800U. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-10900 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 5800U. Also, the Core i9-10900 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 5800U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i9-10900 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 5800U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i9-10900. Despite this, the Core i9-10900 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 5800U.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
