Ryzen 7 5800U vs Core i7-10700K specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-10700K performs better than the Ryzen 7 5800U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i7-10700K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 5800U. Also, the Core i7-10700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 5800U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-10700K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 5800U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i7-10700K. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
