Ryzen 7 5800U vs Core i5-11400 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-11400 beats the Ryzen 7 5800U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800U in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800U has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-11400 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11400. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-11400 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 5800U. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Ryzen 7 5800U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-11400 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 7 5800U has more L2 cache than the Core i5-11400. The Ryzen 7 5800U also has slightly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
