Ryzen 7 5800H vs Core i9-7900X specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i9-7900X is faster than the Ryzen 7 5800H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-7900X has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5800H that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800H. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i9-7900X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 5800H. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5800H has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 5800H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i9-7900X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
