Ryzen 7 5800H vs Core i7-11700 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-11700 performs better than the Ryzen 7 5800H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800H in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800H has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-11700. Despite this, the Core i7-11700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 5800H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-11700 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
