Ryzen 7 5800H vs Core i5-13500H specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-13500H beats the Ryzen 7 5800H in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-13500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5800H that has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800H has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-13500H. Despite this, the Core i5-13500H has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i5-13500H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5800H. The Core i5-13500H also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
