Ryzen 7 5800H vs Core i5-1235U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 5800H beats the Core i5-1235U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-1235U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-1235U has slightly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 5800H has 8 cores. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5800H has more threads than the Core i5-1235U. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800H has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Core i5-1235U outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 5800H thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 5800H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-1235U. The Ryzen 7 5800H also has slightly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
