Ryzen 7 5800 vs EPYC 74F3 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the EPYC 74F3 performs better than the Ryzen 7 5800. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5800 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the EPYC 74F3 has slightly more cores with 9 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 5800 has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 5800 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the EPYC 74F3. A Ryzen 7 5800 CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 74F3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the EPYC 74F3 has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5800. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
