Ryzen 7 5800 vs Core i7-14700T specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-14700T beats the Ryzen 7 5800 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5800 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-14700T has significantly more cores with 20 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5800 that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 5800 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-14700T. Despite this, the Core i7-14700T has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i7-14700T has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5800. The Core i7-14700T also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
