Ryzen 7 5800 vs Core i7-12800H benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 5800 is faster than the Core i7-12800H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-12800H in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-12800H has significantly more cores with 14 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 5800 that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 5800. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 5800 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-12800H. Despite this, the Core i7-12800H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-12800H outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 5800 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 7 5800 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5800 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
