Ryzen 7 5700X vs Ryzen 5 8400F specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 8400F is faster than the Ryzen 7 5700X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5700X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 5700X has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 8400F that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 8400F. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 8400F has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 5700X. Also, the Ryzen 5 8400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 5 8400F has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 5700X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5700X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 8400F.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5700X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
