Ryzen 7 5700U vs Ryzen 5 4500 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 4500 beats the Ryzen 7 5700U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 5700U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 5700U has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 4500 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4500. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 4500 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 5700U. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5700U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 5700U CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 5 4500 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5700U has slightly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 4500. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 5700U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
