Ryzen 7 4800U vs Core i7-6850K benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 4800U performs better than the Core i7-6850K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-6850K in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 4800U has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i7-6850K that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-6850K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-6850K has a significantly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 4800U. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 4800U has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4800U CPU outputs less heat than a Core i7-6850K CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 7 4800U has more L2 cache than the Core i7-6850K. Despite this, the Core i7-6850K has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 7 4800U.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
