Ryzen 7 4800HS vs Core i5-11500H benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-11500H performs better than the Ryzen 7 4800HS. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 4800HS has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen 7 4800HS has slightly more cores than the Core i5-11500H. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800HS has 8 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-11500H. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11500H. In terms of clock speed, the Ryzen 7 4800HS and Core i5-11500H are identical in this regard. Despite this, the Core i5-11500H has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4800HS has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
