Ryzen 7 4700G vs Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H beats the Ryzen 7 4700G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 4700G in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 4700G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H. Despite this, the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 4700G thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4700G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
