Ryzen 7 4700G vs Ryzen 9 5900X benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 5900X beats the Ryzen 7 4700G in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 4700G in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 5900X has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 4700G that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 4700G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 5900X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 4700G. Also, the Ryzen 9 5900X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 4700G CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 5900X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 9 5900X has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 4700G. The Ryzen 9 5900X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 4700G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
