Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i9-9900K comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-9900K performs better than the Ryzen 7 3800X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3800X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-9900K. Despite this, the Core i9-9900K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-9900K outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 3800X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i9-9900K. The Ryzen 7 3800X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
