Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i9-11900K comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i9-11900K beats the Ryzen 7 3800X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3800X in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i9-11900K. Despite this, the Core i9-11900K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 3800X CPU outputs less heat than a Core i9-11900K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Ryzen 7 3800X also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
