Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i9-10850K benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-10850K performs better than the Ryzen 7 3800X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3800X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i9-10850K has slightly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 7 3800X that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 3800X. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-10850K. Despite this, the Core i9-10850K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen 7 3800X CPU outputs less heat than a Core i9-10850K CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10850K. The Ryzen 7 3800X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
