Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i7-9700K benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 7 3800X performs better than the Core i7-9700K. Despite this, the Core i7-9700K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-9700K. Despite this, the Core i7-9700K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-9700K outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 3800X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-9700K. The Ryzen 7 3800X also has significantly more L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
