Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i7-6700K specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 3800X is faster than the Core i7-6700K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-6700K in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i7-6700K has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-6700K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i7-6700K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 3800X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 3800X has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-6700K outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 3800X thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i7-6700K. The Ryzen 7 3800X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
