Ryzen 7 3800X vs Core i5-12450HX benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-12450HX beats the Ryzen 7 3800X in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 3800X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 7 3800X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-12450HX. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-12450HX has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 3800X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 3800X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-12450HX.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 3800X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
