Ryzen 7 2700X vs Core i5-1240P benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 2700X is faster than the Core i5-1240P. Despite this, the Core i5-1240P has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-1240P has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 2700X has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 2700X has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1240P. Despite this, the Core i5-1240P has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i5-1240P outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 2700X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has slightly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 2700X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 2700X has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-1240P.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 2700X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
