Ryzen 7 2700 vs Ryzen 5 4500 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 4500 beats the Ryzen 7 2700 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 2700 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 7 2700 has slightly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 4500 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 4500. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 4500 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 2700. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 7 2700 has more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 4500. The Ryzen 7 2700 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 2700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
