Ryzen 7 2700 vs Core i9-10980HK benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i9-10980HK performs better than the Ryzen 7 2700. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 2700 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 7 2700 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i9-10980HK. Despite this, the Core i9-10980HK has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i9-10980HK outputs less heat than Ryzen 7 2700 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 2700 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i9-10980HK. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Ryzen 7 2700 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
